Mikulenko The Director is the President of the Northern Forum Academy, Member of the International Academy of Natural and Social Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Engineering Academy, Professor Revo M. Skryabin The Yakut International Center for Development of the Northern Territories of the Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences was established in 1992. It is a voluntary, nongovernmental organization. The founders of the Center are the Presidium of the Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the State Committee of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) on Higher School, Science, and Technical Policy, academic institutions of the Yakut Scientific Center of the Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yakut State University and Yakut Agricultural Academy. The Center comprises 11 organizations of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), and 8 foreign organizations. The executive direction of the Center consists of 8 people. The Center's major lines of activity are the following: Since 1993, the Center is the initiator and coordinator of the complex Republican scientific-research program Arctic Expedition of the Yakut Scientific Center of the Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the main objectives of which are establishing links and influence of earth and space processes and factors in conditions of the North and the Arctic on biosystems and people; developing the system of nature management and environment protection, providing stable and ecologically balanced development of Northern and Arctic regions in behalf of indigenous peoples, including minorities. The Institute participates in developing and discussing the projects of laws and subordinate legislation of the Russian Federation and the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), concerning the problems of the North and the Arctic. The program of the Arctic Expedition was implemented by about a hundred of scientists and specialists from the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, France, Germany, Sweden, Great Britain, USA, Japan, China. Great contribution to the formation and implementation of arctic research was made by the following members of scientific institutions of Yakutia: Doctors of Sciences: K.I.Mikulenko, V.N.Makarov, Yu.A.Mochanov, I.S.Reshetnicov; Candidates of Sciences: V.D.Sokolov, Ya.L.Volpert, I.I.Zhirkov, N.S.Karpov, V.I.Pozdnyakov, M.K.SIeptsov, S.V.Larionov, I.A.Akhmadeeva. |
